Greg Carroll
Singer, Songwriter, Storyteller

Greg Carroll is a multifaceted musician, storyteller, and songwriter whose career is enriched by his deep roots in the cultural landscape of St. George’s, Newfoundland, and his heritage as a member of the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation. His musical journey, which began with the guitar at age nine, rapidly progressed to performing in bands by sixteen. Greg's academic pursuit of music at St. Francis Xavier University under the tutelage of Skip Beckwith solidified his foundation in jazz and upright bass.

Greg’s career took him across Western Canada in the 1990's where he toured extensively with country bands and took the opportunity to work alongside guitar legend Amos Garrett. Greg's versatility shines through his solo performances, teaching, and songwriting, influenced by legends like John Prine and Steve Earle.

Inspired by writing trips to Nashville in 2020 with Erik Dylan (writer for Luke Combs and Riley Green), Greg, under the name Moose Carroll, penned several songs honoring First Nations soldiers, including Never Coming Back From Vietnam, which continues to receive airplay on SiriusXM’s Indigiverse.

Greg is committed to mentorship and cultural storytelling. He is a proud adjudicator for the Juno Awards and serves as a virtual instructor and mentor for Inuit and northern First Nations youth through Connected North. Today, while easing back from the rigors of touring, Greg continues to write, perform solo shows, and prepare new music releases. Now based in Colchester County, Nova Scotia with his wife, he remains passionate about giving back to the music community and passing on his knowledge to the next generation.
